Findus at Christmas

This theater is on a break and will be performed again next Christmas.

  • Location: Theatre Barn
  • Length: 25 minutes
  • Suitable for From 3 years

There’s a knock on the door…

The performance based on Sven Nordqvist’s wonderful Christmas story of the same title. In our staging, we invite you to the day before the day in Pettson’s kitchen. Everything should be as it always is… but it isn’t. Findus is equal parts frustrated, angry and sad that Christmas seems to be missing…

Findus från "Pettson får julbesök" – lantkarlsfigur som väcker barnens förtöjning på Junibacken.

Not even a Christmas tree? What sort of Christmas is left without a tree! This is the worst day before Christmas ever. It’s worse than a boring old Tuesday.

Findus

It is a somber outlook indeed as Pettson has hurt his foot and “can’t do all the things that needs doing before Christmas”. But all of a sudden there’s a knock on the door! And that rarely happens at the house of odd old man Pettson.

Showcasing the expectant days before Christmas is so important when far from everyone has it as “nice as it always is” that Findus wants.

Pettson, Astrid Lindgrens älskade sagofigur, är hemma på Junibacken där barn möter honom och hans lekfulla äventyr.

Recurring Christmas tradition

We can already promise that this play will become a Christmas tradition! It will have a place in our Christmas repertoire for the coming years 2025-2026.

Information about the performance

Mikael Kallin, Konstnärlig ledare och regissör på Junibacken, formar den sagolika visionen för all barnteater.

Is there anything new to tell about Christmas, or has everything already been said in red ribbons and fir needles with wrapped figs, and now it's Christmas again? We believe that in the eve-before dialogue between a cat and an old man, there is something worth staging. They want things, they need each other. They fail and succeed, and learn something about Christmas and maybe about love. We need each other, and we are needed.
