The Story of Pippi, Then and Now
A little over eighty years ago, in the midst of a raging world war, a feverish girl asks her mother to – “tell me about Pippi Longstocking!” And she does. The story eventually becomes a present for her daughter’s tenth birthday. And then it becomes a book. And now eighty years later a theatre performance at Junibacken, which tells the story of the time and spirit of the times in which Pippi appeared, how she came to be and perhaps why she is still here and needed.
Played all summer long outdoors at the Garden Stage
This performance is played June 27 – August 16 outdoors at Junibacken’s Garden Stage and is included in the admission fee. Theatre tickets do not need to be booked for this performance.
Take the opportunity to see it this summer!
Then and now, the 1940s with ideals and norms that run counter to the free Pippi. Why and in what way does she appear? And is she relevant again? Are we now back in a time that is reminiscent of the conservative and authoritarian society that then dominated with "strong leaders", who would now once again feel good about being contradicted by a nine-year-old antagonist? Be more Pippi!
